We are a charity enabling over 25,000 young people every year to realise their true potential through learning and adventure in the wild. Over 80% of our courses in the outdoors are funded, providing opportunities for disadvantaged young people across the UK who have often never left their own postcode.
Using the mountains, lakes, rivers and seas, we aim to transform the way young people see themselves – crucially building their confidence, tenacity and resilience by an immersive experience in the outdoors. These are skills which young people need to thrive in education, employment and throughout the course of their lives.

With huge challenges facing our young people today, there is an increasing need for the work we do. 11% of young people aged 16-24 in the UK are not in education, employment or training, and a staggering three-quarters of children in the UK spend less time outside than prison inmates. 1 in 5 will experience a serious mental health issue this year.
These are shocking statistics. In a turbulent and uncertain world, we need our future generations to be more resilient, more confident and more willing to face challenges head-on – an Outward Bound course instils this.
